Chaff Cutter Machines

Gentor Machinery supplies chaff cutter machines for silage and livestock feed, including a 3 kW electric chopper, a PTO-driven or diesel chopper, a 4 kW hammer mill that also chops forage and a multipurpose silage chopper rated at 300-1200 kg/h. All are quoted from one set.

Selection help

How to choose a chaff cutter

Four things decide which model fits, before price is even discussed.

Where is the chopper going to stand?

A 3 kW electric chopper suits a fixed shed with mains power. If chopping happens in the field, the PTO-driven or diesel-engine version removes the need for a cable run and a generator.

Chop length drives silage quality

Shorter chop packs tighter and excludes more air, which is what preserves silage. Ultra-fine grinding suits feeding programmes where intake needs to be pushed, at the cost of slower throughput.

Decide whether you also need to grind grain

The 4 kW hammer mill grinds grain and chops forage with the same machine. If your ration mixes grain and green forage, one unit covers both jobs and simplifies the feed shed.

Plan silage around the chopper, not the reverse

Chopping capacity is only useful if you can wilt, compact and seal silage fast enough. Work out your daily acreage first, then pick the machine that keeps the pit filled inside the ideal harvest window.

Questions

Chaff Cutter questions buyers ask

Answers written against the capacities and prices we publish, not against a template.

What is the difference between a chaff cutter and a silage chopper?

A chaff cutter reduces hay, straw and grass to a short, uniform chop for feeding. A silage chopper does the same job at higher throughput, feeding the chopped material into a silage pit or bag. Several models here, including the 300-1200 kg/h unit, do both.

How much does a chaff cutter machine cost?

Published unit prices run from US$280 to US$355 per set across the range, depending on power and throughput. The final price depends on the drive option, motor specification and destination port, so we quote each order individually.

Can I run a chaff cutter without mains electricity?

Yes. The PTO-driven chopper runs from a tractor, and the diesel-engine version has its own power unit, so both work in a field away from the buildings. Tell us which tractors you run if you intend to use the PTO drive.

Which chop length is right for cattle and sheep?

Cattle generally take a longer chop than sheep, and silage needs a shorter cut than dry straw fed in racks. Chop length is set on the machine, so tell us the animals you keep and whether the material goes into silage before we configure it.
